Street photography from here and there -- in town and on rural roads

Wednesday, March 27, 2024

Hello

Although I've been a nature photographer for more than 50 years, it's only recently that a genre of photography usually called "Street Photography" has piqued my interest. Street photography is the photography of places, people and things in cities and towns. Here in northcentral Pennsylvania there are a few large communities and many small towns – not to mention a lot of rural roads. So you won’t see scenes from the streets of large cities, what you will see are photographs from the small towns, rural areas and communities outside the cities and suburbs of the northeastern United States.

There will be posts from streets in towns and along rural roads, things that catch my eye and arouse whatever artistic bent I may have.

Here's a selection of random photographs of interesting subjects; most have a backstory that invites your imagination to soar, many have a variety of features that call for a close and through look. I hope you enjoy them.

Did you see all the little details that make these photos worth a close look? Hopefully you did, found the photos interesting and will return to future posts of In Town and On the Road.

  1. Plane ride looks inviting, but not w/o props and with drafty broken windows. Fire escape pic has lots of interesting angles. Must not have been a real sturdy door in its heyday. So you think they're green peppers?...enlarge the pic. Lots to think about including safety harness not clipped to anything. Got cha covered, no bldg paint needed here. Do you think he'll stop at the red light? Hoyt Brothrrs - interesting combo. A cat door? Colorful window display, and enlarge for backward reflection of sign in bldg across the street. Wow - don't sèe brake lights - fast speed change.
