These Boots Are Made For ...

Do you remember the song "These Boots Are Made For Walking"? Well, these boots are made for something else. Presumably there was a hope that the fencepost topping boots will delay or stop decay in the posts -

 

Most of the boots have lichen growing on them, they've apparently been there for a fairly long time. 

Wooden fenceposts usually decay at ground level, so I doubt that the boots will prolong the lives of any of the posts.

Disrepair

Buildings come in all shapes and sizes, in good condition and in various states of disrepair. Disrepair often gives the buildings a character that make for visual interest and good photographs even if you wouldn’t want to have to use them.

If you’re so inclined, think of whether it would be safe to enter the building, or use it for which it was intended, or what it might take to repair these interesting structures.
