Blues

There are lots of blues: The Blues (as in a form of music), once in a blue moon, the blues (as in sadness), The Blue Man Group, a blue jacket (a term for a sailor) and of course the color blue of which there are a plethora.

Here we’ll just take a look at a few blues I’ve found in my travels –

Did you notice the subtle details that make many of these more interesting than just a photo of something blue?

Hopefully 2025 won’t be too blue for you, in spite of the worsening climate crisis, the fractured politics in the U. S. and the conflicts throughout the world (many, if not most, of which are a result of religious differences).

Turkey Day

Turkey Day is another name for Thanksgiving Day in the U. S. Here are a few turkeys to be seen in town:

If eating turkey is part of your family tradition, enjoy the day (and your meal).

Pumpkins

It’s that time of year again, late-October, when pumpkins seem to be everywhere – in fields and roadside stands, garden centers and grocery stores. Pumpkins are squash by another name with, usually, a color that make them outstandingly photogenic. Of course, some are not orange and some aren’t the usual plump round shape. Pumpkins are one of my favorite photographic subjects – here are a few of the photographs I’ve taken of them –

When fall is over and all the jack-o-lanterns have been carved many of those fields will still have pumpkins remaining, the rejects that will feed the deer and insects and bacteria and fungi. Until next year, good-bye pumpkins.

Patterns

Fire-escapes and outside stairways create interesting patterns and shadows and their shapes occasionally make you wonder “Why?” Some of them look pretty darn spindly and as for a wooden fire-escape – what the ... ?

Here are a number of each created in both steel and wood and very rarely both –

As you travel through various communities you may want to take a closer look at the shapes of these means of climbing higher or descending in an emergency
would you be comfortable using every one of them?
